The fourth solo exhibition of the artist Alessandro Piangiamore, hosted in Magazzino, a Roman gallery. A flow of light that radiates industrial materials and crystallized photographs that enclose an intellectual and artisan imagery. An industrial, magical, light and threatening poetic.

Alessandro Piangiamore is a Sicilian artist, born in 1976. In 1998, without an academic background, he moved to Rome making his first entry into the capital's artistic stage. Already the protagonist of numerous exhibitions of considerable importance, Frangiflutti, is his fourth solo exhibition, this time hosted by the Roman gallery Magazzino, from 26th May to 29th July 2022.
The title of the exhibition is the core of Piangiamore's imagination, which sees art as a restorative function, a filter with which to protect oneself from the world we live in, a filter capable of distorting perception On display in Magazzino is a collection of earthy monochromatic panels which, like simulacra, preserve the bare material, as pure as the artist's poetics. Photographs that give the sensation of cold and hot in the same instant, a world filtered by sheets of ice that modify nature. The night sky with luminous falling feathers removed from the artist's control that pour out like stars against dark backgrounds. The rainbow made of glass which together with neon lights illuminate the other works with intense colored beams that lack peace, form and logic.
Rational and irrational coexist in Piangiamore's works, creating continuous references to the real imagination in the observer, but in a diffuse and opaque atmosphere. Thus the soul of the Sicilian artist unfolds from the Dust Hunter to Water in the Eyes, from A few birds is lost in the sky to Jupiter painter of butterflies.
The artist's poetic imagination revolves around life or rather to give life to what is transitory and indefinite. A sculpture and a painting at times organic, inextricably linked to industry and its materials that Piangiamore remodels, giving it a new identity, a new meaning. An artist who pours into his works the memories of his childhood, the everyday and the contingent, the domestic dimension, the traditions of his native land that crystallizes in the elements of nature and the sea. Compositions, forms and original poetics that look towards the contemporary. His works derive from a perfect mix of intellectual research and artisan practice. What remains of Piangiamore's work is an eternal trace and at the same time about to disperse.
